MEMPHIS, TN –(WMC-TV) – Traffic is moving again after a deadly crash involving a fire truck shut down part of I-40 in Fayette County. One man died in the crash and two firefighters were airlifted to the Med.
The Braden volunteer firefighters working the fatal accident Monday night showed up just minutes after three of their own came close to losing their lives. Two of the firefighters are in critical condition.
Friends say one of the men celebrates a birthday tomorrow and has a 16-year-old son.
Miles of blocked traffic stood still as the scene was cleared
“It could have been a lot worse,” said Hunter Winfrey, chief of the Braden Fire Department. “The pumper did its job.”
