Hutchinson man hit by car, critically injured

 

A 58-year-old Hutchinson man was critically injured Monday when he was hit by a car while using a crosswalk in Hutchinson, authorities said.

Robert Schraeder was crossing 11th Avenue just after 8 a.m. when he was hit by a car driven by a 62-year-old Hutchinson woman, Hutchinson police Sgt. Brian Hirt said in an e-mail statement. The driver was in the inside eastbound lane of 11th when Schraeder was struck.

Schraeder was transported by medical helicopter to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis with what Hirt described as a serious head injury, Hirt said. Neither drugs nor alcohol are considered factors in
