People who live and work in the neighborhood say it’s very dangerous for people walking or trying to cross the busy four-lane street where crosswalks are very spread out.

“People are going flying down the street, down my street, I got hit by a car because someone was flying,” said neighbor Linda Walsh. “This house on the corner used to have a fence up but they took it down because cars were always crashing through the fence and hitting the house.”

Another neighbor added that it was just a matter of time before someone got killed.

“This is a dangerous road. A lot of seniors walk down here and one of their biggest fears is being hit by one of these oncoming cars, so, unfortunately, we saw that today,” said the man who did not want to be named.

Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.

Police aren’t sure if the victim was trying to cross the road or was on the sidewalk but say they don’t believe the car that struck him was on the sidewalk.
