A bill that would revise Minnesota’s “move over” law has died. The bill sponsored by Shakopee State Representative Mike Beard tells News 12 that his bill will not make it to the House floor - effectively killing any chances for passage.
Beard says he’s “parking the bill,” which guarantees the current law will not change. The idea behind the bill was to require motorists to slow down instead of changing lanes. The current law requires motorists to move over one lane of traffic when an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road.
