Triad Firefighter Hit By Car At Accident Scene

King, NC — A firefighter was hit by a car while responding to a wreck involving a tractor on Highway 52 North near Moore-RJR Drive early Monday morning.

According to the King Fire Department, around 5 am a car drove through a coned off area sideswiping a fire department car and then hitting a volunteer firefighter.

The firefighter was there monitoring the traffic with the Sheriff’s Office. The driver hit him and carried him after impact.

The driver remained on the scene and the crash is being investigated by NC State Highway Patrol. The firefighter, Lt. Les Collins, was transported to Wake Forest
